MELBOURNE, Fla. (April 12, 2013) - Right-hander Anthony Figliolia posted another stellar performance for the Blue & Gold as he pitched the Tars past the No. 23 Florida Tech Panthers Friday night at Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.

Figliolia was well on his way to pitch his third complete game of the season but was just one out short of going the distance. After a fielding error and a walk put runners in scoring position, the Winter Springs native was pulled in 8.2 innings of work. Figliolia earned the win allowing one run on seven hits while striking out five.

Junior Eric Morse recorded the final out of the ninth to pick up his second save of the year.

Rollins registered six hits in the win with Steve Betcherman and Hunter Mayfield tallying two hits apiece.

Florida Tech starter Jason Boyer was tagged with the loss in seven innings on the mound. He recorded a game-high six strikeouts and gave up all three Rollins runs.

The Tars offense got a late start as they jumped on the board after three scoreless innings of play. Back-to-back Jason Boyer walks put runners on first and second that got the Tars rally started. Steve Betcherman laced a ball through the left side that scored Brian Lattanzi for the first run. A sacrifice fly by Grant Moss on the following at-bat, which plated Matt Hendricks, gave the Tars a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Tars added an insurance run with two outs on the board. Hunter Mayfield led off the frame on a base hit and stole second on the following at-bat. He then made his way to third on a Yuta Okazaki sac bunt and scored on a Zach Persky RBI single.

Florida Tech chipped away at the Tars lead in the bottom of the ninth as catcher Austin Allen blasted a solo home run to right center to put the Panthers on the board. Allen's run would be all that the 23rd-ranked Panthers could muster up as they fell 3-1 to the Tars.

Allen and Jimmie Koch had two hits each for FIT.

Rollins will return to Melbourne to complete the three-game conference series against the No. 23 Florida Tech Panthers. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Fans can follow the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
