WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2013) -Rollins
registered their 10th game and fourth straight in
double-figure hits en route to a 12-2 victory over the Saint Anselm
Hawks. The Tars have won each of their five games of the
65th Annual Rollins College Baseball Week
tournament.
Junior Eric
Morse (2-1) earned the win in eight innings of work, striking
out a season-best seven batters while allowing one run on seven
hits. Cole
Tibbetts pitched one inning in relief and allowed one run on
two hits while striking out one.
Brandon
Curson posted his seventh game with multiple hits, as he was a
perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, two runs and a stolen
base. Steve
Betcherman went 3-for-4 with a run and RBI.
Rollins jumped on the board in the bottom of the second as they
scored all 12 runs between the second and seventh innings. Another
two runs in the third pushed the Tars' lead to 4-0 before Saint
Anselm registered a run in the top of the fourth, 4-1.
In the home half of the fourth, the Tars tacked on a trio of
runs beginning with a bases clearing triple by Evan
Rivera that scored Hunter
Mayfield and Steve
Betcherman. Rivera was 2-for-4 with two RBI. The catcher then
scored on a Saint Anselm passed ball.
Lone runs in the fifth and seventh and another three in the
sixth gave the Tars their 12 runs. In the top of the ninth, the
Hawks plated their final run on a sacrifice fly by Tom Murphy,
scoring Terrance Walsh.
Hawks starter Paul Trabucco was tagged with the loss in 5.1
innings of work. He gave up 11 runs on 16 hits while striking out
two and walking one.
