WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 14, 2013) - The
Rollins men's lacrosse team was defeated 18-5 by No. 12 Molloy in a
non-conference match-up thanks to a nine-goal effort by the Lions'

Ross netted a hat trick in the losing effort.
Molloy (5-0) attacker Kenny Lutz set the pace for the contest as
he netted the first goal of his triple hat trick at the 12:12
mark. Tars midfielder Chris
Ross answered back with two unassisted goals six minutes apart
to give Rollins a 2-1 lead with 3:17 left in the first period. The
Lions leveled the score under the three-minute mark in the first as
the teams entered the second frame locked at 2-2.
The Lions outscored Rollins (1-7) in the second period 5-2 to
take a 7-4-halftime lead. Riley

Dever tallied the second quarter scores for the Tars.
Coming out of the intermission, Molloy quickly pushed a trio of
goals past the Rollins keeper before Ross registered his third goal
of the day with 3:39 left in the third frame to cut the deficit to
five, 10-5. Ross' goal was the only for the Tars in the second
half.
Molloy scored the final eight goals of the game, boosting the
final score to 18-5.
Freshman midfielder Alex
Petsos was 11-of-18 on faceoffs and grabbed four ground balls.
Junior John
Herbert led the Tars with five ground balls and also caused a
turnover in the contest.
Andrew
Sheerin was charged with the loss in 50:12 of action between
the posts while his counterpart John Grebe earned the win playing
all 60 minutes.
The Lions outshot the Tars 18-17 in the first half but were even
in the second with 18 shots apiece. Rollins also picked up more
groundballs than their opponent, 23-20.
This upcoming Saturday, March 16, will be Senior Day for the
Tars as they take on Adams State. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m at
Cahall-Sandspur Field at Barker Family Stadium. For the latest
