Rollins Roughs up Grizzlies on Senior Day

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 16, 2013) - Rollins fell behind early, but used a big second quarter and its staunch defense to beat Adams State 15-9 on Senior Day Saturday.

Riley Robinson racked up five goals to lead Rollins' (2-7) offense. Austin Ricci found the back of the net three times to become Rollins' all-time goal scorer while Jack Dever earned two goals and five assists.

Alex Petsos filled the stat sheet with a goal, two assists, 17 groundballs and 22-of-26 faceoffs.

Andrew Sheerin earned the win in the cage, racking up 13 saves and allowing eight scores in 53 minutes of action. Hunt Bartram picked up five saves in relief.

Alexander Rainey scored three goals to pace the Grizzlies (1-4). Josh Peterman and Mike Telles each scored twice with Telles also adding an assist. Ronnie Fernando took the loss, surrendering 13 goals with 12 saves.

ASU scored first as Peterman found the back of the net just 2:20 into the game. After Petsos won the faceoff, Robinson tied the score with a goal just eight seconds later.

Peterman scored his second to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead before goals by Austin Ricci and Chris Ross put the Tars ahead 3-2. ASU then netted two unanswered and took a 4-3 advantage after one.

Dever tied the game at four with a quick score in the second, but again ASU had an answer and went up 5-4 with 11:27 left in the half. The Tars netted four more in the period while keeping ASU to just two more as Rollins led 9-7 at the break.

Rollins pulled away in the third, outscoring its visitors 4-1. One from Stephen DeFlumeri, two from Robinson and another Morgan Baker put the Tars in control 13-8 heading into the fourth.

The Grizzlies scored first, but Rollins held off the threat of a comeback with goals by Will Diamond and Ricci in the waning moments.

Prior to the game, Rollins honored seniors Scott Budriss, Nick Scannapieco and Ricci.
