WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 21, 2013) - The
Rollins volleyball team will close out the 2013 regular season on
the road as they head to south Florida to take on the Lynn Fighting
Knights and Nova Southeastern Sharks.
Rollins will take on the Fighting Knights on Friday, November 22
at 7 p.m. followed by Nova Southeastern on Saturday, November 23 at
4 p.m.
ROLLINS AT A GLANCE: Rollins (21-9, 8-6) is
coming off a 3-1 loss to No. 19 Palm Beach Atlantic and is
currently ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II South Region
rankings. The Tars will await their fate in hopes of earning the
program's fourth straight NCAA Tournament bid and program's sixth
overall.
The last time Rollins faced both teams, the Tars earned
back-to-back wins.
Camille Indest leads the Tars offense as the senior is averaging
a team-best 3.62 kills per set with a team-leading .333 hitting
percentage. She is second on the team in service aces (27) and
blocks (90) and is averaging 0.75 digs per set.
Jessica Wilson is second on the team with a .297 hitting
percentage, to go with a team third-best 2.03 kills per set. She
leads the team in blocks with 104 (0.95 bps), which ranks
101st in the nation.
As a team, the Tars are hitting .199 while opponents are close
behind with a .153 attack percentage. April Jackson adds 8.01
assists per set to the Tars offense with a team-best 30 service
aces.
Defensively, Collyn Welsch continues to inch her way closer to
the all-time digs mark with a SSC-best 550 digs (5.00 dps).
LYNN AT A GLANCE: The Fighting Knights are
currently 18-14 on the year and 5-9 in the conference, sitting
sixth in the standings and ninth in the NCAA South Region
rankings.
In their last five matches, LU is 2-3 and is coming off a 3-0
loss to Saint Leo. Lynn will close out the season against No. 2
Tampa on Saturday, November 23.
Marissa Tandron leads the Fighting Knights offense with a .307
hitting percentage, to go with 0.95 kills per set. She also aides
LU's .200 team hitting percentage with 9.72 assists per set.
On the defensive side, libero Nikki Haben dishes out a team-best
4.66 digs per set, while Sara Aloisio adds 0.90 blocks per set
(91).
NOVA SOUTHEASTERN AT A GLANCE: The Sharks are
currently 5-20 on the season and sit at the bottom of the basement
in the SSC standings with a mark of 1-13.
NSU is on a seven-match losing streak, most recently coming off
a 3-0 loss to Saint Leo.
Leading the Sharks offense is Sydney Cook with 3.83 kills per
set. She is also averaging 1.69 digs and 0.46 blocks per set.
Dana Holger adds 2.67 kills per set with 2.24 digs and 0.42
blocks per set.
Defensively, Candice Johnson leads the team with 3.45 digs per
set, while Samantha High leads adds 0.62 blocks per set.
