Tars Sweep Fighting Knights on Road

BOCA RATON, Fla. (November 22, 2013) - The Rollins volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-19) victory over the Lynn Fighting Knights Friday night at the DeHoernle Center.

Rollins improves their overall record to 22-9 and sit third in the Sunshine State Conference standings with a mark of 9-6. The Tars are also ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II South Region rankings, three days before the Selection Show.

Rollins was led by senior Camille Indest with 13 kills and three blocks. Freshman Ruth Harrington added a double-figure kill effort with 12, along with 14 digs and two blocks.

Jessica Wilson chipped in with eight kills and six blocks.

To open the first set, both teams traded points with the frame including nine ties and four lead changes. Katlyn Sawyer knotted the score for the final time at the 11-all mark on a kill that opened up a 5-0 run by the Tars. Rollins took the first set 25-18 with the Tars scoring the final three points of the frame.

In the second set, Rollins battled it out with the Fighting Knights (18-15, 5-10 SSC) as they earned a 27-25 win. Indest recorded seven of her 13 kills in the second set, while Ruth Harrington notched five. Rollins held LU to a .064 hitting percentage while the team posted a .224 attack percentage.

In the third set, Rollins led from start to finish as they cruised to a 25-19 win over Lynn. The Tars hit a .182 and held the Fighting Knights to a .000 hitting percentage. Defensively, Rollins outdid LU as junior libero Collyn Welsch notched 11 of her 20 digs in the third set. The Tars also recorded four of their nine-team blocks.

Liga Strautniece led the Fighting Knights with eight kills and seven digs. Lizzy Raffa and Angie Caple recorded six kills apiece.
