WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 15, 2011) - The
Rollins women's lacrosse team earned a spot on the first Synapse
Sports Division II Weekly Poll, announced by the staff of
womenslacrosse.com Monday.
The Tars have kicked off their 2011 campaign with a 6-1 record,
dropping their only contest to two-time defending national champion
and current No. 1 Adelphi back on February 22. The Tars are riding
a four game win streak, and most recently picked up a big 20-4
victory over Indiana University of Pennsylvania on March 11.
Rollins squares off against Stonehill College Tuesday afternoon,
marking the second time the two teams will match up on the field,
with the Skyhawks holding the series advantage 1-0. A member of
the North Region, Stonehill is coming off a 2010 campaign that saw
them advance to the NE10 Championship, and First Round of the NCAA
Tournament, where they dropped to Adelphi in both games.
The Skyhawks, who have come in at No. 9 on both the Synapse
Sports Weekly Poll and IWLCA DII National Poll, makes the trek to
Winter Park with a current record of 3-0. Stonehill picked up
sizeable victories in their first two games, defeating Georgian
Court 20-7, and Saint Michael's 20-1. In their last time out, the
Skyhawks narrowly defeated Merrimack, 11-10 on Thursday, March
10.
After Tuesday's North/South Region showdown, the Tars return to
action on March 22, when they host Erskine College. The Tars and
Flying Fleet will square off at Hungerford Preparatory Field, with
