WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2011) - Rollins sophomore Sophie Townsend notched a new career high in goals and points in a game as she led the Tars with five goals and an assist for six points, lifting the Tars to a 20-4 victory over Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday morning.

The win advances Rollins to an overall record of 6-1. The Crimson Hawks kick off their season with a mark of 0-1.

Townsend led a total of nine Tars in scoring as Rollins earned their fourth consecutive victory. Marissa Giannerini posted her third-straight game with four goals, and was followed by Katy Tyszko who had a hat trick. Leading the assist board was freshman Caroline Lamere, who registered three assists and added a goal for four points.

IUP saw scoring efforts from three players, with Corinne Miller leading the team with two goals. Stephanie Bianco and Jessica Beck completed the day with one goal apiece for the Crimson Hawks.

The Tars put the first goal on the scoreboard thanks to Giannerini who ripped a free position shot past IUP goalie Katharine Davis with 27:16 on the clock. The Crimson Hawks answered right back on an unassisted goal from Bianco less than two minutes later, but Rollins rolled through the remainder of the first half holding their opponent silent as they tacked nine more goals onto the scoreboard to enter the half with a 10-1 advantage.

Rollins held IUP without a goal for the first 20 minutes of the second half while they added seven more goals to their total. But the Crimson Hawks were finally able to place a shot between the pipes thanks to an unassisted goal from Beck with 10:03 remaining in the game. The Tars out-scored their opponent in the final 10 minutes of action 3-2, securing their fifth in-region win of the season.

Between the pipes for the Tars, Elyse De Lisle set aside four shots, while allowing only two goals in her time in cage. Rachael Kokomoor saw time in cage in the final 10 minutes of play, registering one save while allowing two goals. On the opposite end of the field, Davis yielded 16 goals while setting aside a total of 11 shots as she saw 47:24 minutes on the field. Chelsea Hipp saw the remaining time in cage, allowing four goals and recording one save.

Rollins returns to action on Tuesday, March 15, when they host North Region opponent Stonehill College. Game time against the Skyhawks is set for 4 p.m. at Hungerford Preparatory Field. Fans can catch all of the action live on the Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
