LAKELAND, Fla. (April 15, 2010) -
A trio of convincing doubles victories and two quick singles
wins propelled the eighth-ranked Rollins men's tennis team past
41st-ranked Eckerd 5-0 in the first round of the Sunshine State
Conference Tournament on Thursday.
Fourth seeded Rollins (16-8) advances to play top seed Lynn in the
semifinals at 9 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 16 at the Beerman Tennis
Facility in Lakeland.
In the top doubles match, fourth-ranked Jeff Morris and Neil
Clausen made quick work of Ben Maxwell and Adam Hopkins 8-2
while 23rd-ranked Pablo Seijo and Nick
Rowlands defeated Erik Thunberg and Jonathan Bonner 8-3 in the
No. 3 match. Girts

Sturdza completed the Tars sweep with an 8-3 victory over James
Walker and Aaron Kleefield in the No. 3 position.
In singles play, eighth-ranked Morris posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over
Maxwell in the top flight match and Chris
Herbert took Alex McDonald 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
Rollins fell to Lynn 8-1 in the two schools match-up earlier in the
year. Morris scored Rollins' lone point with a win over then
eighth-ranked Alessandro Sarra in the top singles match.
