FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 30, 2009)-

The Rollins softball team picked up a victory and dropped one game to Nova as the teams completed doubleheader action Monday afternoon, 5-0 and 2-7.

Game one of the doubleheader saw the Tars jump out to the early lead as they posted runs in the second and third inning to gain a 2-0 advantage. Rollins also posted runs in the sixth and seventh to round out the scoring.

Offensively the Tars relied on the hot bat of Christine Roser, as she went 4-for-4 with two homeruns and three RBIs. Also collecting an RBI for the Tars was Monica Meadows. The Tars posted 10 hits against Dani Caron.

Rachael Foster picked up the win as she improved to 13-1 on the season and drops her ERA to 0.63. Foster went seven innings and allowed four hits and collected eight strikeouts.

With the win Rollins improves to 31-5 on the season and 4-4 in Sunshine State Conference play.

Game two of the doubleheader saw the Tars dig a deep hole they could not get out of. Two errors in the first inning allowed Nova to put four runs on the scoreboard in the first inning. Defensively the Tars committed three errors on the afternoon, which cost them four runs on the day.

Rachael Foster and Kristina Holland led the way as they each went 2-for-3 on the afternoon. The lone runs came from the bat of Christine Roser as she belted a two homerun to left field in the sixth inning. The two runs were not enough to get the Tars back into the game as the lead was only cut to five.

With the loss Nicole Anderson falls to 15-5 on the season and now hold a 0.93 ERA. Anderson pitched strong as she only allowed three earned runs. With the loss the Tars fall to 31-6 on the season and 4-5 in conference play.
