The Rollins softball team earned a home shutout victory against the Lynn University Fighting Knights 8-0, Friday evening. The Tars handled the Fighting Knights in five innings as Nicole Anderson picked up the win to move to 16-5 on the season.

The Tars were able to get the bats going as Monica Meadows went 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored. Christine Roser continued to swing her hot bat as she went 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Roser belted her 14th homerun of the season that put Rollins out front for good. Jamie Rausch and Amber Pederson also picked up RBIs to round out the scoring for the Tars.

Rollins started off early as they picked up two runs in the bottom half of the first inning to take a lead they would not surrender. Monica Meadows led things off for the Tars, as she reached on a single. Kristina Holland also followed up with a single to give Rollins runners on first and second. Jamie Rausch collected her RBI as she doubled to score Meadows and move Holland to third. Holland would later score on a wild pitch. The inning would end as Rachael Foster just missed hitting a double that was taken away by the centerfielder.

The second inning saw the Tars post five runs on the board as Christine Roser collected three RBIs on her homerun and with Monica Meadows collecting an RBI single. This extended the lead to 7-0 after two innings.

Nicole Anderson held the Fighting Knights scoreless through five innings of work. Anderson struck out three and walked one, while allowing no hits for the Fighting Knights. With the win Anderson improves to 16-5 and lowers her ERA to 0.90

Rollins capped off the scoring as Monica Meadows reached on a leadoff single and would come around to score on an Amber Pederson sacrifice fly. After four innings the Tars posted an eight run lead, which forced Lynn to score one run in the fifth to keep the game alive. The Fighting Knights were not able to do anything with a Pallister walk as the game would end 8-0 in favor of the Tars.

The Tars will resume the series with Lynn on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m. from Lake Island Park.
