WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 20, 2009) - A trio of Tars scored four goals apiece as the tenth-ranked Rollins women's lacrosse team romped their way to a 19-8 victory over the Franklin Pierce University Ravens Friday evening. Securing their second win on the week, the Tars move to 5-2 overall, while the Ravens conclude their spring break trip and head home with a mark of 1-2.

Sophomore sharpshooter Katy Tyszko led the way for Rollins as she fired off four goals and five assists in one of the best games of her collegiate career. Tyszko matched two single-game program highs as her five assists and nine overall points match records set in the Tars' inaugural 2008 season.

Sophomore standout Liz Connelly was close behind Tyszko as her four goals and three assists notched seven points against the Ravens, while junior midfielder Marissa Giannerini placed four goals between the pipes to give the trio a total of 12 goals. Rounding out the goal count for Rollins was freshman Mallory Surpless with three, while Tori Snow, Steph Wiedenhofer, Ashley Martin, and Lacy Goodwyn netted one goal each into the apiece.

The Tars sailed through the game as senior goalkeeper Lisa Weber made 12 clutch saves and snagged an interception while allowing only four goals per half to hold the Ravens to eight points.

A stingy Rollins defensive unit held the Ravens to one goal on five free –position shots, and caused 10 turnovers as Connelly and Alyssa Emens led the team with two apiece. Connelly's nine ground balls and four draw controls helped the Tars gain possession in the midfield, while Snow led both teams with five draw controls.

Rollins exploded into the game and jumped out to a six point lead in the first seven minutes, with Tyszko assisting on four of the six goals and Giannerini and Surpless finding success on two tallies each. Franklin Pierce responded with two of their own from Ashley Moirano and Brianna Nash, but the with two shots netted by Tyszko in 14 seconds the Tars jumped out to a dominating 8-2 lead with 13:06 left in the first half.

Giannerini went on a two-goal streak of her own after Tyszko to pull the Tars out to an eight point lead, but Nash and Moirano cut it down to six with two goals at 3:22 and 2:53. Despite the Ravens' best efforts to hold Rollins back, Connelly ripped two quick goals in the final 30 seconds of the half, including a last-second shot from 25 yards out that snuck its way past FPU goalkeeper Killian Bolduc at the horn to close out the first period with a score of 12-4.

The Tars came out of the half on fire as they notched the first three goals, pulling ahead to an 11 goal lead with 21:17 on the clock. Franklin Pierce's Lauren Stille grabbed an unassisted goal at 20:25 to put the score at 15-5, but with a running clock the Tars put two more on the board to climb to a 17-5 lead with 17 minutes to go in the game.

Franklin Pierce out-scored Rollins in the final 11 minutes 3-2, but the Tars already held an impressive lead and concluded the game with Snow scoring on a free position shot to end the game with Rollins holding an 11 goal advantage.

Rollins led in all areas of the game as they out-shot Franklin Pierce 38-24, and led in ground balls 47-35, draw controls 18-10, and caused turnovers 10-3.
