Walking away with a big game on defense was sophomore Zach Cole between the pipes. Cole made a total of 20 saves, including 10 in third-period action, and led the team with five ground balls. Meeting Cole's ground ball count was Vossler on defense, who also led the team in caused turnovers with four on the afternoon.

The Indians were headed-up by Marty Tuohy with three goals and two assists for a total of five points, while midfielder Braden Artem led the game after grabbing six ground balls.

Catawba kicked off the scoring in the first quarter as Artem put the Indians up on the board with 9:14 remaining in the first period. It wasn't until five seconds into the second period that the next score was tallied as Catawba's Stephen Shuba ended almost a ten minute scoring drought with an unassisted goal.

Gilman fired back a minute later to finally put the Tars up on the board with 13:13 to go before the half, but with two tallies from the Indians late in the quarter the Tars entered into the break with a three point deficit as the score read 4-1 in favor of Catawba.

Both teams traded off in third quarter play as Cohen kick-started the action on his fast break from one end of the field to the other to notch the Tars' second goal unassisted.

The Indians exploded into the fourth quarter with four straight goals, jumping out to a 10-3 lead before Gilman closed out the day with two quick goals at the 3:32 and 3:19 mark to close the gap to five points.
