SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 28, 2009) –

Rollins split double header action against Saint Leo Saturday night, 3-2 and 1-3. Rachael Foster received the win as she went five innings allowing two runs. Senior Nicole Anderson came in the game and captured the save opportunity, as she preserved a 3-2 victory.

The Tars (12-1, 2-0 SSC) jumped out to a one run lead quickly in the second inning as Jamie Rausch homered to left field. Rausch is tied for the team lead in home runs with three on the season. The home run was the only run of the inning and of the game until the Tars struck again in the fifth.

The fifth inning saw Rollins post two more runs as Morgan Frost reached on an error and this was lifted for the pinch runner Kaycie Bevis. Rachael Foster laid down a sacrifice bunt allowing Bevis to advance to second. This brought Monica Meadows up to the plate with two outs. Meadows took the Ashley Urbanik offering over the center field fence collecting two RBI's.

Foster improved to 5-1 on the year, allowing two run on three hits and two walks to go along with her eight strikeouts. Ashley Urbanik suffered the loss for Saint Leo, allowing three runs on four hits with five walks and nine strikeouts.

Monica Meadows went 1-4 with two RBI's to lead the Rollins offense. Jamie Rausch went 2-3 with one RBI to give the Tars all the offense they would need to secure the victory.

Saint Leo answered in the sixth inning scoring two runs to cut the lead to one. Elysha Agen led the inning with a double to left field. This brought up Tiffanie Harvey, who also came up with a double to right field allowing Agen to score from second. This prompted a pitching change as Rollins brought in Nicole Anderson for the save opportunity. Ashley Urbanik singled to move Harvey over to third and in scoring position. Ally Maddox then came up and reached on a throwing error by Rachel Almengual allowing Harvey to score from third. The inning would end with Saint Leo scoring two runs.

The bottom half of the seventh inning saw Saint Leo threaten as Amber Martyn reached on a single. The Lions would go down on a strikeout, groundout, and line out to end the game.

Game two of the doubleheader saw the Tars take a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh only to see it evaporate quickly on a three run home run by Brittany Yates.

The Tars struck first on the scoreboard as Rollins posted one run in the first inning. Monica Meadows drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. Rachael Foster also reached base on a throwing error on Tatiana Casis to give Rollins runners on first and second. Christine Roser also reached base on a fielder's choice as Foster was thrown out at second, moving Meadows to third with Roser on first. Roser would then steal second base putting two runners in scoring position for the Tars. Missy Thogmartin colledted the RBI as she drove in Meadows with a sacrifice fly to right field. Roser moved to third on the play and the inning would end with Jamie Rausch going down on strikes.

No scoring took place by either side until the bottom of the seventh as Saint Leo tacked three runs on the board to win the game. The Lions got things going with two singles to start the inning and this would give Casis a chance with runners in scoring position. She capitalized on her chance as she took the offering from Nicole Anderson over the center field fence, as the walk off home run ended the game.

Nicole Anderson fell to 7-1 on the season, but still holds a 1.01 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 55 and two thirds innings of work. The Tars fell to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in SSC play with the loss.

Rollins will travel home to host Salem International March 1 at 6 p.m. at Lake Island Park. Fans can catch all the action live on the Citizens Bank of Florida Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.com.
