WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 2, 2009)-
Rollins blasted past visiting Lake Superior St. in doubleheader
action, Monday evening. With the two wins the Tars move to 16-2
whileLake Superior falls to 3-5 on the season.
Monica
Meadows went 5-for-6 on the day with six RBI's to lead the
Tars' bats. She also scattered five hits to pick up the game
victory, while Rachael
Foster Foster tossed a no hitter in the game one win.
In game one Christine
Roser, Kristina
Holland, and Rachael
Foster all collected three RBI's to help Rollins score a season
best 13 runs. Also chipping in one RBI apiece was Jamie
Rausch, Kaycie
Bevis, and Rachel
Almengual to round out the scoring.
The Tars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning that would go
larger after a Christine
Roser homerun to right field extended the lead to 5-0. Rollins
capped off the scoring in the bottom of the fourth when Rachael
Foster blasted a three run homerun to left field to give the
Tars a 13-0 lead.
Rachael
Foster collected her sixth win of the season, as she went five
innings. Foster allowed zero hits, zero runs, and punched out five
Lakers. With the dominating performance Foster lowers her ERA to
0.83 for the season and now has 62 strikeouts in 42 innings of
work.
The nightcap saw Monica
Meadows step in the circle for the Tars and deliver in a big
way. Meadows led the Tars to a 12-0 win behind her five innings of
work allowing five hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
Vanessa
Volkema provided a huge offensive lift for the Tars, as she
went 1-for-2 with two RBI's. Freshmen Kaycie
Bevis went a combined 4-for-4 with two RBI's, while Missy
Thogmartin went 5-for-7 with two RBI's. Jamie
Rausch went 2-for-4 with one RBI to round out the Tars'
scoring.
The Tars will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take part in the Clark
Atlanta Tournament as they faceoff against Valdosta St. at 9 a.m.
Friday.
