MELBOURNE, Fla. (February 23, 2009) –
Rollins opened Sunshine State Conference play in a big way Monday
as the 15th ranked Tars blanked Florida Tech 9-0.
Rollins improves to 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in the SSC while
Florida Tech falls to 2-2, 1-2.
In the top doubles spot, 15th ranked Margaret
Junker and Kayli
Ragsdale downed Natalia Ramos and Abigail Greif 8-5. Roshni
Luthra and Holly
Fleming teamed to win the No. 2 match 8-4 over Andrea Madrigal
and Monica Price with Stefaniya
Tkach and Allie
Steele taking Nicole David and Alexis Weinning 9-7 at No. 3
Luthra moved to the No. 1 singles spot for the first time on the
season and won 6-4, 6-2 over Natalia Ramos. Holly
Fleming picked up her first collegiate singles victory with a
6-3, 6-3, 10-5 win over Greif and Stefaniya
Tkach downed Monica Price 7-6, 6-1 at No. 4. Junker remained
undefeated on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Madrigal at No. 4,
Steel was a 6-4, 6-0 victor over David at No. 5 and Ragsdale took
Weinning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
Rollins will be back on the courts on Saturday, February 28 at
Eckerd with play slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
