SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (October 26, 2009) -

The Rollins women's golf team turned in the most consistent performance of the day and holds a one shot lead after two rounds of the Ross Resorts Invitational at Mid Pines.

The Tars and LPGA legend Peggy Kirk Bell (Rollins class of 1943) serve as hosts of the prestigious event in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Rollins, the third ranked team in Division II, shot scores of 300 and 301 in overcast, blustery conditions Monday for a 36-hole score of 601 strokes. Sunshine State Conference rival, top ranked Nova Southeastern is one shot back with a score of 602 (304-298) while round one co-leader Eastern Michigan is third with 608 strokes (300-308). Georgetown (314-308=622) is fourth while Methodist, the top team in Division III, is fifth (318-306=624).

Nova Southeastern's Sandra Changkija jumped out to a seven shot lead over the field, opening up with a two-under 70 in the morning and following with a three-under 69 in the afternoon for 139 strokes.

Rollins' Joanna Coe was a little slow out of the gate, shooting a three-over 75 in the morning, but found red numbers in the afternoon, firing a one-under 71 to sit second with 146 strokes.

Daniela Vargas continued her stellar fall season and is tied for fifth after shooting a pair of 75's (150). Elin Marcsdottir is a shot behind Vargas in a tie for seventh with 151 (73-78) strokes while Fabia Rothenfluh is tied for 14th with a score of 155 (77-78). Brianna Seo sits tied for 21st after rounds of 81-77 (158).

The Tars also have three players competing as individuals, led by Cecilia Kleinert in a tie for 41st with 163 (81-82) shots. Christie Tallent is tied for 48th (87-79=166) and Kelly Krusoe is alone in 51st (84-84=168).
