KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (February 6, 2010) - Joanna
Coe
opened up a two-shot lead as the fourth-ranked Rollins women's
golf team sits third after the first round of the Tusculum/Kiawah
Island Intercollegiate.
Rollins shot an opening round 308 and is three shots back of leader
Belmont Abbey (305) and two behind second place Daytona State
(306). The event is being held at the par 72, 5,876-yard Cougar
Point Golf Club.
Two-time defending champions of the event Florida Southern is third
with a score of 314 and fellow Sunshine State Conference member
Saint Leo is fifth with 315 strokes.
Coe, the tournament's defending champion, was the only player near
red numbers, turning in an even par-72 among chilly weather
conditions.
Fabia Rothenfluh is tied for
ninth after an opening round 77 with Daniela Vargas' 79 putting
her in a tie for 19th. Brianna Seo is a shot back,
tied for 25th after shooting 80 while Elin
Marcsdottir shot 81 and is tied for 29th.
The Kiawah Island Intercollegiate will conclude Sunday, Feb. 7 with
a final 18-holes.
