MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 6, 2008) ' Four Tars
would score on the way to an 11-4 loss to Pfeiffer University on
Sunday afternoon on the Falcons' home turf in Misenheimer, N.C.' In
their second to last scheduled game of their 2008 inaugural season,
the Tars drop to 2-12, while the Pfeiffer University Falcons
improve to 3-6 on the season.
Drew Bernstein, Andy Katz, Jay McDermott, and Charlie Shelly
each placed the ball in the back of the cage, with Bernstein, Katz,
and Henry Cadwalader finding an assist apiece.' Freshman goalie
Zach Cole had a big day making 20 saves for the Tars, giving him an
even 220 saves for the season.
Chris Gorman led the way with ground balls for the Tars,
collecting four throughout the contest.' Gorman was followed by
Katz with three, and Cadwalader and Bernstein who each scooped up
two.' In the Tars' defensive end, Rich Ford, Andrew Cohen, and Evan
Mimun each fought their way to a caused turnover, helping to move
the ball back into their offensive box.
The Pfeiffer University Falcons were led by Eddie Gourley with
five goals for the afternoon.' Six other Falcons would score, and
three would tally assists on their way to a seven goal lead over
the Tars.' Falcon goalies Pat Martin and TJ Connors made seven and
three saves, respectively.
Rollins scored a little over minute into the game with a quick
goal from McDermott assisted by Cadwalader, but the Falcons
responded in just nine seconds to tie up the score.
Pfeiffer placed one more in the cage before Rollins could find
their way around the Falcons goaltender, but with an illegal stick
call the Tars lost the goal as well as some of their momentum.'
Pfeiffer went on to score three more goals to leave the Tars down
5-1 after the first quarter.
Rollins picked up the first goal of the second quarter with an
unassisted shot from Shelly to pull the team to within three points
of the Falcons, but Pfeiffer was able to capitalize on a Rollins
turnover with a final second period goal from Kevin Anderson to
give the Falcons a 6-2 lead entering into the halftime break.

Pfeiffer came out of the half and kept the Tars at bay by
outscoring them 3-0 in the third quarter to give Rollins a seven
point deficit as they entered into the final quarter of the
game.'
A goal from Katz from a swift feed off of Bernstein's stick gave
the Tars the first tally of the fourth quarter, but the Falcons
were still able to squeeze two more goals past the defense.' The
junior duo of Bernstein and Katz were able to combine forces in the
final minutes of the game in order to give the Tars one last goal
with a little over two minutes remaining in the game, making the
final score 11-4 in favor of the Falcons.
The Rollins College men's lacrosse team will travel back to
Saint Leo to make up their game that was postponed due to
