LAKELAND, Fla. (April 17, 2008) - Sweeping
through all three doubles matches, the 7th-ranked Rollins women's
tennis team blanked the Florida Tech Panthers 5-0 on Thursday
morning at the Beerman Tennis Center. The Tars overall record
improves to 21-1 on the season.
The 12th-ranked tandem of Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra
defeated Natalia Ramos and Michaela Horvathova 8-3 in the No. 1
position as Sonia Bernal and Margaret Junker coasted by Andrea
Madrigal and Nicole David 8-0 in the second seed. Silvia Frandji
and Anastasiya Shevchenko completed the sweep with a win against
Sarah Collins and Jelani Reynolds 8-0 in the No. 3.
Only two singles matches were completed en route to a Rollins
victory as Junker rolled past David 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 and
Steele bested Sara DiNovi 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth spot.
The Tars will be back in action on Friday, April 18 when they
play the winner of Barry University and Saint Leo in the second
round of the SSC Tournament at 9:00 a.m.
