LAURINBURG, N.C. (March 1, 2008) -' After a hard-fought win the previous evening, the Rollins College women's lacrosse team could not find success against the Glden Knights of Gannon University as they played their fourth game in just seven days.' With a final score of 20-5, the Tars drop to 2-3, while the Lady Knights begin their season on top at 1-0.

Freshman'Courtney Bianculli was able to build some momentum for the Tars as she placed the first ball in the cage with a little over fifteen minutes into the first half.' The midfielder from Setauket, N.Y. was able to tally the only assist for the Tars, as well as the only goal for her team in the first half of the contest.

Bianculli's goal would stand alone on the scoreboard until 13 minutes into the second half when fellow freshman Liz Connelly was finally able to score again.' Connelly's goal started a Tar streak that would last two more scores by both freshman defender Liz Scully, and one more by Connelly who would lead the Tars at the end of the game with two.

The final goal for the Tars was posted with just 45 seconds left in the contest with a one-two connection from Bianculli to freshman Katie Hubbell who swiftly placed the ball behind the Gannon goalie as the clock ran down.

Junior goaltender Lisa Weber saw a big day in the cage for the Tars, making twelve saves in the first half, and tallying two more in the second for a total of 14.

The Golden Knights kicked off the game with an eight goal streak in the first 15 minutes, finding ways around the Rollins defense in order to score five of their eight unassisted.' Gannon ran the score up to 12 in the first half, and out-scored the Tars 8-4 in the second for a total of 20 goals on the day.

The Lady Knights found success all over the field, as a struggling Tar squad played catch-up the majority of the game.' After having played a long, demanding game just 16 hours earlier, there was no doubt the Tars were tired as they walked off the field at the end of the contest.

The Rollins College women's lacrosse team will have a week to recuperate before they have to take to the field again.' Their next game will be on March 7, the location and time of the game are still being decided.' Stay tuned to the Rollins College Athletics Site for more details.
