WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 21, 2008) ' Sophomore attackman Charlie Shelly and freshman midfielder Peter Harvey would tally the only two goals for the Rollins College men's lacrosse team in an 18-2 slaughter against the visiting preseason number five ranked team, Dowling College. With their second loss of the week, the Tars drop to 1-3 overall, while the Golden Lions begin their season at 1-0.

Sophomore middie Chris Gorman would walk away with assists on both goals for the Tars, and freshman goalies Zach Cole and Doug O'Brien would see time in the cage as Cole snagged 13 saves, and O'Brien posted two more for the evening.

Dowling players Kyle O'Brien and Nick Cotter would each tally a game high five points for their team as the team went on to out-shoot the Tars 46-9.

It was a rough day for Rollins from the beginning as Kyle O'Brien posted the initial Dowling goal within the first 18 seconds of the game. The Golden Bears would whip three more into the back of the cage before Rollins would be able to answer back with Harvey's goal as 8:29 was left on the clock in the first quarter.

Dowling would hold a ten point lead at the half with a score of 11-1, and as the teams returned to the field from the locker rooms a deluge commenced that would carry on throughout the remainder of the game, creating a sloppy environment right from the get-go as slick conditions hindered both teams equally.

Rollins would be out-shot in the third quarter 4-1, with their only goal being scored by Shelly with 3:54 left in the period. The Golden Knights would go on to notch three more goals in the fourth quarter, concluding the soggy match-up with uneventful play.

The Tars will have nine days to recover from their waterlogged loss, and will have the home field advantage once again as they take on fellow Deep South Conference member Saint Leo University on Sunday, March 2 at 1:00 pm at Showalter Field.
