TAMPA, Fla. (January 19, 2008) ' The Rollins
women's swim team struggled in the pool on Saturday, falling to
nationally ranked Tampa and Saint Leo in a double dual at UT. The
Tars dropped a 54-41 decision to Saint Leo and lost to Tampa by a
score of 69-25.
Ally Best had a big day in the distance events to lead the Tars.
The newcomer went 11:51.07 in the 1000 yard freestyle to finish
third and 5:39.64 in the 500 yard freestyle, taking fourth. Rollins
picked up some big points in the 100 yard butterfly, taking two of
the top four spots. Megan Mattingly stopped the clock in 1:06.94
and finished third with Corie Kelly coming in fourth in
1:07.06.
Lauren Griesser finished third in the 100 yard backstroke in
1:10.26 and Stephanie Posner was fourth in the 100 yard
breaststroke in 1:16.73.
The Tars 200 yard medley relay team of Griesser, Posner, Kelly
and Tayler Marx took third in 2:03.07.
Rollins will be back in the pool and on the road in their next
competition on Saturday, January 26. The Tars will travel to
Savannah, Georgia for a double dual meet with Savannah College of
Art & Design and Darton at 2 p.m.
