WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 12, 2008) ' The
Rollins men's swim team picked up seven individual and one relay
victories to get past Sewanee, the University of the South 116-87
on Saturday. Jackson Nicholson won two individual events and a
relay to lead Rollins while Jeff Mueller took part in a pair of
victories.
The Tars 200 yard medley relay team of Nicholson, Mueller, Colby
Loetz and Carson Nicely stopped the clock at 1:42.16 to get the
Tars started. Nicholson went on to win the 200 yard freestyle in
1:49.90 and the 100 yard freestyle in 49.71. Nicely was runner up
in the 100 with a time of 50.30. Mueller was a winner in the 100
yard butterfly in 54.65.
Kamel Tejada was a double winner for Rollins in the 1000 yard
and 500 yard freestyle with Daniel Paulling taking second in both
races. Tejada posted a time of 10:37.20 in the 1000 while Paulling
stopped the clock in 10:46.88. In the 500, Tejada came in with a
time of 5:09.08 with Paulling clocking 5:13.15.
Brad Rubash won the 50 yard freestyle, leading Rollins to a
1-2-3 finish in the event. Rubash posted a time of 22.65 with Loetz
(22.72) taking second and Billy Shugart (23.12) coming in third.
Loetz also added a runner-up finish in the 100 yard backstroke in
58.21. Paul Hoffman picked up a win for Rollins, taking the 400
yard IM in 4:35.17. Jimmy Colston earned a second place finish in
the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:07.16 for Rollins.
The Tars 200 yard freestyle relay team of Paulling, Mueller,
Nicely and Tom Alexander came in second with a time of 1:30.90.
The Rollins men's swim team will be back in the pool on
Saturday, January 19 in a double dual with Tampa and Saint Leo at
Tampa. Competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
