WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (September 25, 2007) ' In
their third five-game match of the season, the Tars volleyball team
once again came out on top. Rollins defeated Palm Beach Atlantic
3-2 (30-26, 16-30, 30-25, 34-36, 16-14) on Tuesday night at the
Greene Sports Complex.
Leading the way for the Tars was senior Lorena Orlandini who had
21 kills and six digs. Stephanie Nichols and Christina Reinders
followed close behind with 15 kills and 16 digs a piece. Libero Kim
Cline totaled an impressive 29 digs on the evening and setter Lacey
Malarky notched 68 assists, two shy of her career match record.
With the score fluctuating in the fifth and deciding game,
senior Piper Young re-entered the game at 13-13 and hammered a kill
for the Tars to give them the lead (14-13). The Tars and Sailfish
traded kills until Rollins was up 15-14 and Mitchell overshot her
attack, handing Rollins the victory.
Three Sailfish had double-digit kills with Bia Santos pounding
20, Brittany Erickson hitting 19 and Ali Mitchell with 16 kills
against the Tars.
The Tars (11-6, 2-1) will be back in action on Friday, September
28 when they travel to Nova Southeastern to take on the Sharks at
