FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (September 28, 2007) '
The Nova Southeastern Sharks took out the Rollins College Tars 3-0
(30-28, 30-26, 30-22) on Friday evening at the University
Center.
Lorena Orlandini led all scorers on the evening with nine kills.
Outside hitter Piper Young had seven kills and eight digs and
Christina Reinders recorded six kills and three digs. Setter Lacey
Malarky totaled 30 assists and libero Kim Cline notched nine digs
against the Sharks.
Rollins fell to Nova in a tight first game that included three
tie scores and three lead changes. At one point, the Tars even
built a seven-point lead over the Sharks (10-3), but Nova battled
back and won the first game 30-28. Orlandini, Nichols and Young
each registered three kills a piece in this opening game.
The second game began much like the first with the Tars ahead
and the Sharks swimming against the current to take the lead away.
Orlandini led Rollins with three kills, while Reinders and Young
tallied two each.
It was all Nova in the third and final game with the Tars
succumbing 30-22.
Middle blocker Melinda Gorman had 10 kills for the Sharks (15-4,
5-0) who remain undefeated in conference play.
The Tars (11-7, 2-2) will be back in action tomorrow, September
29 when they travel to Miami Shores to take on the Barry University
Buccaneers (6-10, 0-2) at 2:00 p.m.
