WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 21, 2007) ' The
Rollins College Tars volleyball team outlasted the Saint Leo Lions
3-2 with game scores of 30-26, 25-30, 25-30, 32-30, 15-7 on Friday
evening at Warden Arena.
The Tars were led by Lorena Orlandini's 17 kills, with Piper
Young adding 15 kills. Both Christina Reinders and Stephanie
Nichols tallied 14 kills a piece and totaled a combined 12 digs
defensively. Lacey Malarky guided her team on offense with 60
assists, while libero Kim Cline chipped in 11 digs.
Saint Leo had five players registered double-digits in kills.
Chelsea Armer notched 17, and Leah Perry added 14 kills with Audrey
Starkebaum totaling 11 and Kaitlin McKenna and Michelle Nogueras
registering 10 kills each.
The Lions (13-4, 0-1) fell behind the match, as Rollins took
game one 30-26. However, Saint Leo battled back to win games two
and three by the same 30-25 scoreline. SLU won the first four
points of game four, but Rollins closed the gap quickly and the
see-saw battle ended with the Tars forcing a fifth and deciding
game.
In the final game, Rollins went on an 11-4 run to close out the
match and pick up its second conference win of the season.
The Tars (10-6, 2-1) will be back in action on Tuesday,
September 25 when they travel to Palm Beach Atlantic to take on the
