HILO, HAWAII (August 25, 2007) ' The Tars were
outmatched against tough non-conference competition at the Hawaiian
Style Classic hosted by the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Rollins
succumbed to Chaminade in the first game 3-1 (30-12, 30-26, 25-30,
30-27) and then again to Texas Woman's University 3-1 (26-30,
30-23, 30-26, 30-25) in game two action on Saturday afternoon.
In her Rollins debut, freshman Jenny Sherwood tallied 14 kills
and only two errors in the two matches. Senior Christina Reinders
led the offensive charge with 28 kills and 24 digs on the afternoon
and outside hitter Piper Young knocked down 25 kills for the Tars.
Junior Stephanie Nichols added 17 kills and 11 digs in today's
matches as well.
On defense, senior captain Kim Cline notched 43 digs, while
setter Lacey Malarky guided the offense with 90 assists on the
day.
With the today's wins, Chaminade brings their record to 4-0 and
Texas Woman's is 2-2 in tournament play.
The Tars (1-3) will be back in action as they play host to New
York Tech in their first home stand of the season on Wednesday,
