WALTHAM, Mass. (May 9, 2007) - Senior
right-hander David Nathanson put an exclamation point on to the end
of his final collegiate game, striking out the side in the ninth in
a complete game shutout of Stonehill in Rollins' 6-0 victory at
DeFelice Field on Wednesday afternoon.' The win improves the Tars'
record to 26-29, and the Skyhawks dropped to 21-24.
Nathanson (9-3) tied a career-high with his ninth win of the
year, and he now will finish his four years at Rollins with a
career record of 28-14.' The senior out of Maitland, Fla. also tied
a career-high with 11 strikeouts, including four of Stonehill
leadoff hitter Tom Aldrich.' Junior third baseman Stefano Foggi led
Rollins at the plate, hitting 3-4 with a homerun, two runs, three
RBI, and a walk.' Freshman shortstop Ryan Luker also contributed by
hitting 2-4 with one RBI.
Justin Perry (2-3) was credited with the loss after allowing two
runs through three and two thirds innings.' Third baseman Adam
Pardo was the only Skyhawks batter with more than one hit, as he
finished the day 2-4.
Sophomore first baseman Ryan Maddern singled home Rollins' first
run in the second, bringing home Foggi from second.' The Tars were
blanked in the third, but then starting in the fourth they scored
one run in each of the final five innings.' Foggi started the
multiple-inning rally with a booming solo homerun to lead off the
fourth.' He then singled home a run in the fifth, junior center
fielder Corey Whiting drove in one in the sixth, Luker drove in one
in the seventh, and Foggi brought in the final run with a bases
loaded walk in the eighth.
Rollins will finish the 2007 season with a game at DeFelice
