WALTHAM, Mass. (May 10, 2007) - A four-run comeback in the top of the ninth put the Rollins baseball team up by one in its final game of the season, but the Tars bullpen could not hold the lead, allowing Bentley to win 6-5 on a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth on Thursday afternoon at DeFelice Field.' Rollins finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 26-30, and Bentley improved to 22-29.

Sophomore first baseman Ryan Maddern went 2-4 for the Tars, scoring one run and driving in two with a double.' Freshman right fielder Phil Hendricks also performed well at the plate, hitting 1-2 with a walk and one RBI.' In the field Hendricks cut down a runner at the plate trying to score from second base on a single.' Three freshmen appeared on the mound for Rollins, and right-handed starter Marc Hewett allowed three runs in three and two thirds innings.' Left-hander Danny Clark performed well out of the bullpen, not allowing a hit through his first four and one third innings, but he allowed the runners to reach in the ninth that would eventually come around to score the runs that tied and won the game.' Clark (2-4) was credited with the loss, and right-hander Robbie Pagano entered the game and surrendered the game-winning two-run single by Bentley shortstop Steve Gath.

Left fielder Kevin Vona paced the Falcons lineup, hitting 3-5 with one RBI.' Third baseman Tim Denehy, Gath, and second baseman Charlie Pagliarulo also had two hits apiece.' Reliever Jarrod Marchesi lasted seven and two thirds innings, giving up four runs, two of which were earned.' Matt Boudrow (4-3) relieved Marchesi and picked up the win, pitching one scoreless inning.

Bentley led 3-1 entering the ninth inning, and Rollins started a rally when junior third baseman Stefano Foggi was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.' Sophomore catcher Eugene Martinez then hit a ground rule double, advancing runners to second and third.' One run scored when freshman shortstop Ryan Luker reached base on an error, and two more came in on a double by Maddern.' Senior second baseman Ryan McKenzie brought home the fourth run on a sacrifice fly.' With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the inning, Gath bounced one up the middle off Pagano to win the game for the Falcons.
