WALTHAM, Mass. (May 8, 2007) - In the team's first game of a season-ending three-game road trip to Massachusetts, Rollins fell to Merrimack 10-7 on Tuesday afternoon at DeFelice Field after a ninth inning comeback pulled the team to within three runs.' The Tars fell to 25-29 overall, and the Warriors improved to 16-26.

Freshman left fielder Scott Chase and sophomore first baseman Ryan Maddern each had three hits to lead the Tars lineup.' Chase also doubled, scored two, and drove in two, while Maddern doubled and picked up one RBI.' Sophomore catcher Eugene Martinez (2-4, double, two RBI), sophomore left fielder Jesse More (2-4, one run), and junior center fielder Corey Whiting (2-5, double, two runs) also had good days at the plate.' Freshman right-hander Michael Prusak pitched a scoreless one and two thirds innings out of the bullpen to finish the game.

The top of the Merrimack lineup proved tough to retire for Rollins' pitchers, as leadoff man Rick Sotiropoulos (3-4, three runs, three RBI, walk), number two hitter Brendan Pyburn (3-5, two doubles, one triple, one run, three RBI), and number three hitter Jeff Bercume (2-4, double, two runs, one RBI) excelled at the plate.' Rollins committed five errors in the game, and several proved costly for the team.' Sotiropoulos reached on an error to lead off the game, and he came around to score Merrimack's first run.' The Warriors went ahead 10-3 in the seventh inning, but Rollins rallied for four runs in the ninth, bringing the score to 10-7.

The Tars will return to DeFelice Field for a contest against Stonehill on Wednesday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m.' Fans can listen to all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.com.
