MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (May 6, 2007) ' The Rollins
softball team capped off their regular season with a big win over
Barry University 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Buccaneer Field.
The Tars (39-15, 14-10) were led by Sherri Rabenold who went 1-3
on the day, knocking in Rollins' lone run. In the top of the fifth
inning, Lauren Starcher starting the base running by singling to
right center. Lauren Winney then singled with a bunt, advancing
pinch runner Meghan Shaw. Rabenold then made her impact by doubling
down the right field line, bringing Shaw home.
Nicole Anderson (25-11) picked up the win in the circle pitching
4.2 innings, giving up one hit on two walks and six strikeouts.
Ingrid Schumacher pitched 2.1 innings allowing two hits with two
walks and one strikeout.
For Barry (42-17, 15-9) outfielder Cristina DeTagle notched two
hits on the afternoon, while catcher Brittany Anderson tallied one.
Amber Jack (26-10) received the loss on the mound giving up five
hits and striking out three.
Rollins will now anxiously await the results of regional voting
to see if they will advance to the NCAA South Regional
Tournament.
