WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 22, 2007) ' On Senior Day at Alfond Stadium it was a freshman that proved to be the hero, as designated hitter Scott Chase hit a walk-off solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth, giving Rollins the 7-6 win over Nova Southeastern on Sunday afternoon.' The Tars improved to 24-22 overall, and their record in Sunshine State Conference play now stands at 8-10.' The Sharks dropped to 33-15, 7-11.

Chase extended his hitting streak to 11 by going 4-5 with a homerun, double, one run, and two RBI.' Junior center fielder Corey Whiting also had a good day at the plate, hitting 2-3 with two runs, two walks, and one stolen base.' Freshman left-hander Danny Clark (2-3) was masterful out of the bullpen, picking up the win after not allowing a hit through four innings.

Infielder Eric McCans, left fielder J.D. Martinez, and right fielder Bryan Valencia led the Sharks lineup, as each player had two hits apiece.' Shawn Langlois (2-1) moved from shortstop to pitcher to finish the final two innings, and he was credited with his first loss of the year after the Tars tied the game in the eighth and won it in the ninth.

The first three innings had plenty of action, as NSU scored in each of the first three and Rollins scored in the second and third.' The Sharks led 6-3 going into the fourth, and neither team was able to get on the board until Rollins scored two in the seventh.' Sophomore third baseman Anthony Soto brought home the first run on a sacrifice fly, and junior first baseman Stefano Foggi singled home the second.' Down by one, the Tars rallied to tie the game in the eighth after errors by NSU infielders McCans and Ryan Walding.' Chase then stepped to the plate in the ninth and lofted a 2-1 pitch down the right field line and over the wall for the winning run.

Rollins seniors Ryan McKenzie, David Nathanson, and Jon Wano were recognized before the game and thanked for their contributions to the Tars baseball program.

The Tars will start their season-ending road trip with a non-conference game at Saint Leo on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m.' Fans can listen to all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.com.
