TAMPA, Fla. (April 19, 2007) ' The Rollins
men's tennis team had an easy day as they moved on to the second
round of the SSC tournament by defeating the Saint Leo Lions 5-0
Thursday morning at the Hillsborough Community College Tennis
Complex.
Rollins (17-7) took all three doubles matches as Brian Compton
paired with Jonathan Gomez in the No. 1 spot to defeat Mohamad El
Naamani and Neil Watson 8-4. In the No. 2, Pablo Seijo and Gustavo
Carvalho notched their sixth straight team win as they pummeled
David Farinez and Brandon Stacey 8-1. Michael Schwartz and Adrian
Tan capped off a perfect doubles day by routing Saif Noorsumar and
Gregory Strange 8-3 in the third position.
Only one match was completed in singles play as the No. 6 seed
Albin Hubscher leveled Michael DelPriore 6-0, 6-0. The No. 1 match
featured Brian Compton as his opponent, Watson, retired with
Compton leading 3-1 in the first set. All other matches went
unfinished for the day.
The Tars will play their second round match-up against the No. 1
seed Florida Southern who they previously defeated 5-4 on April 7.
The match is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
