WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 17, 2007) ' The Tars offense exploded for 22 runs on Saturday as Rollins took a doubleheader from Albany State by scores of 15-0 (5 innings) and 7-1. The victory improves Rollins record to 23-6 on the year and pushes their winning streak to 14.

Rachel Almengual and Sherri Rabenold swung the big bats for the Tars on the day. Almengual hit 4-5 with three RBI and four runs scored while Rabenold batted 5-7 with three RBI and five runs scored. Both had one double with Almengual legging out a triple and Rabenold blasting a home run to go along with three stolen bases. Victoria Rudolph went 2-4 and crossed the plate twice with Ingrid Schumacher and Amanda DeFilippo each belting homers.

Nicole Anderson picked up the game one victory and improved to 15-5 on the year, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out 11 in five innings of work. Schumacher was the game two winner as she scattered six hits and surrendered one run with eight strikeouts.

Game one was all Rollins as the Tars hung at least two runs in each of the five innings. Rollins belted out two hits and took advantage of two errors in the first for a 2-0 lead and manufactured two more in the second for the 4-0 advantage. Rollins blew it open in the third with seven runs as dingers from Schumacher and DeFilippo as well as timely hitting from the entire lineup gave the Tars an 11-0 lead. The Tars then got four more in the bottom of the fourth, three of which came with two outs, to complete the 15 run victory.

Rollins picked up right where they left off beginning game two as Rabenold led off the first with a single, stole second and was knocked in on an Almengual single. DeFilippo led off the second with a double and later scored on an error while Sanders rapped a two RBI two bagger to give the Tars a 4-0 lead. The Lady Rams (8-17) fought back in the top of the third as Melissa Hurst led off the frame with a solo home run. That would be all the Tars would allow as they hung up two more runs in the fourth and another in the sixth for the 7-1 victory.

Rollins will get back into Sunshine State Conference play on Friday, March 23 as they will open up a three-game series with Florida Tech at Lake Island Park. First pitch for Friday's game is schedule for 7 p.m. with Saturday's doubleheader slated for 5 p.m.
