ORLANDO, Fla. (March 12, 2007) ' Junior first
baseman Stefano Foggi and senior pitcher David Nathanson of the
Rollins baseball team were honored by the Sunshine State Conference
on Monday, as Foggi was named SSC Player of the Week and Nathanson
named SSC Pitcher of the Week.
Foggi, a native of Evanston, Ill., batted .538 with two
homeruns, 11 RBI, and four runs scored as the Tars compiled a 3-2
weekly record, including an SSC series win over Eckerd.' Foggi
collected three multiple-hit games and batted .462 with eight RBI
in the three-game Eckerd series.' He raised his batting average to
.306 for the year, and he now has four doubles, three homeruns, 13
runs, 19 RBI, a .514 slugging percentage, and an on-base percentage
of .414.
Nathanson, a product of Trinity Prep and native of Maitland,
Fla., strung together two solid outings to post a 1-0 record with a
0.53 ERA in the week.' The right-hander opened the week by tossing
eight shutout innings of four-hit ball in a tough 1-0, 10-inning
loss to #23 Florida Gulf Coast, striking out 10 and walking two.'
Nathanson also picked up a complete-game win over Eckerd, allowing
just one earned run on seven hits while walking one and fanning
eight.' For the week, Nathanson pitched 17 innings, allowed just
one earned run on 11 hits, walked three, and struck out 18.' He
remained undefeated on the year, improving to 5-0, and lowered his
ERA to 1.77.
Foggi and Nathanson join junior outfielder Mike Crane as Rollins
players to have earned SSC weekly honors this year, as Crane was
named Player of the Week on February 25.
The Tars (14-8, 2-1) will play host to New Haven on Monday,
March 12 at 7:00 p.m. on the second day of the 59th Annual Rollins
