Rollins Women Rout Lynn to Keep Pace in SSC

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 10, 2007) ' The Rollins women's basketball team opened up a 14 point halftime lead and cruised down the stretch, posting an 81-54 win over Lynn University on Saturday. The win keeps Rollins (18-5, 9-3 SSC) in contention for the Sunshine State Conference title as they sit one game out of first with four games left on the schedule. Lynn drops to 13-10 on the year and 5-7 in conference play.

Senior Larissa McDonough led the Tars and all scorers, putting up 23 points to go along with seven rebounds. Jessica Barker netted 12 points while Rachael Workman added eight.

Vanessa Black paced the Fighting Knights with 17 off the bench. Rae Rae Fripp recorded 12 points and a team best six rebounds.

Rollins ruled the boards, posting a 51-34 advantage on the glass while out-shooting the visitors 41.5 percent (27-65) to 30.6 percent (19-62). The Tars also made 26 trips to the free-throw line and made the most of it, knocking down 21 (81 percent).

Ines Teuma scored a lay-up on the Tars opening possession and they didn't look back, opening a 17 point advantage, 27-10, with just over 11 minutes left in the first half. Lynn rolled up a 10-4 run and cut the lead to 11 with five minutes showing on the clock, but the Tars answered with a 7-0 spurt to make the gap 18 before ultimately taking a 42-28 lead into the break.

Rollins kept the hammer down in the second half, going up by 20 early in the frame and up by as much as 29 with five minutes left.
