SAINT LEO, Fla. (February 14, 2007) -- Thanks
to an outstanding shooting performance, especially in the second
half (56.7 percent), the Rollins women's basketball team picked up
an 83-66 road victory over Sunshine State Conference opponent Saint
Leo on Wednesday.' The Tars improved to 19-5 overall and 10-3 in
conference play, and the Lions dropped to 7-17, 3-10.
Four players scored in double digits to lead the Tars, and
sophomore guard Jennifer Dyer led the way with 19 points on 7 of 11
shooting.' Forwards Larissa McDonough and Ines Teuma added 12
points each, and point guard Jennifer Musgrove poured in 11.' The
fifth starter for Rollins, sophomore guard Jessica Barker, scored
seven and led the team with six rebounds.' Freshman guard Jessica
Pressley scored nine from the bench.
Roni Carithers paced Saint Leo with 13 points, and Amanda
Holloway and Latasha Lawrence provided a spark from the bench with
12 and 10 points respectively.
Rollins had one of its best shooting performances of the year,
shooting 52.5 percent from the field.' The Tars also excelled from
three-point territory (40.0 percent) and the free throw line (73.3
percent).' Although the Tars outscored them by 17, the Lions also
shot well from the field, posting a field goal percentage of 50.0
percent.' The teams were tied in rebounds at 30 each.
The Tars will be on the road again on Saturday, February 17 for
an SSC contest at Eckerd College at 2:00 p.m.' The game will be
