The Tars look to take on the University of Tampa today in their
first Sunshine State Conference game of the season.
Last week, the Tars dominated the court, pulling in three wins with
over a 20 point margin, and allowing the bench plenty of success on
the court.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Rollins women's team has been named 2nd in the
Sunshine State Conference preseason poll.' The Tars collected 39
points and six first place votes, falling behind University of
Tampa with a total of 34 points and 10 first place nominations, and
ahead of Florida Tech with 56 points and only one first place
vote.
LOOKING AHEAD
The women will have a long break after today's game, working
towards a sixth home game in a row against Flagler University on
December 15th at 2 pm.' From there, the Tars will travel to the
SIAC/SSC Classic on December 28th and 29th, where they will play
Albany State, and Fort Valley State.
SERIES VS. THE SPARTANS
The Tars lead the series against the University of Tampa
45-27.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Senior guard Jennifer Musgrove had a monster week during
the Thanksgiving holiday, leading the Tars to three wins and a
sweep of the Rollins Thanksgiving Classic.
She filled the stat sheet in all three games, averaging 12 points,
4.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.6 steals. In the classic opener
against Puerto Rico Bayamon, Musgrove netted a career high 21
points while also gathering five rebounds, five assists and five
steals. On the season, she leads Rollins with 13.8 points, 4.8
assists and 3.3 steals per game.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
The Spartans lost their first game of the season against
Cal State Dominquez Hills, but have been on a six game win streak
ever since.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time Rollins and Tampa met in an in season game was on
March 4, 2007, where Tampa beat Rollins 68-66 in overtime during
the Sunshine State Conference Championships.' Even though Tampa won
the game, Rollins was still given a bid to the NCAA's, where they
were finally bounced out of action by Arkansas Tech in the first
round.
