WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 3, 2007) ' The
Rollins swim teams each picked up a victory to highlight the Tars
day at the annual Sunshine State Relays. The event featured teams
from The University of Tampa, Florida Southern, Saint Leo and
UCF.
The Rollins women earned a runaway victory in the 300 yard
breaststroke relay as Kelly Cuddihy, Kim deLeon, and Stephanie
Posner posted a time of 3:12.22. Cuddihy, deLeon, Stephanie Posner
and Megan Mattingly then teamed to earn a second place finish in
the 400 yard medley relay in 4:25.61.
Casey Shufelt, Kylene Dey and Ally Best were runners up in the
1500 yard freestyle relay in 6:12.01 while Shufelt, Best, Lauren
Greisser and Taylor Marx took third in the 400 yard freestyle relay
in 4:04.31.
The Rollins men earned a victory, runner-up and three
third-place finishes to highlight their day in the pool.
Daniel Paulling, Jeff Mueller and Kamel Tejeda won the 1500
freestyle relay with a time of 5:20.34, 0.53 seconds better than
second place Tampa. Rollins was runner-up in the 200 freestyle
relay as Brad Rubash, Tom Alexander, Billy Shugart and Carson
Nicely posed a time of 1:32.60.
Tejeda, Paulling, Jackson Nicholson, and Jeff Mueller posted a
third place in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 7:20.90.
Rubash, Paulling, Alexander and Tejeda teamed to finish third in
the 500 yard freestyle relay in 4:28.73 while Paul Hoffman, Joel
Eley and James Colston took third in the 300 yard breaststroke with
a time of 3:29.27. The Tars ended the meet on a high note as
Hoffman, Alexander, Shugart and Nicely took third in the 400
freestyle relay in 3:28.39.
The Rollins men's and women's swim teams will get into dual meet
action on Saturday, November 10 as they will travel to Florida
Southern. Competition is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
