The Tars were able to hit the court in an exhibition game
against UCF on Sunday November 4, 2007.' Rollins won 82-73 over the
Knights, with 24 points coming from senior Jennifer Musgrove who
also added a team high nine rebounds.' Rollins shot 50 percent from
the field and held UCF to 46 percent.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Rollins women's team has been named 2nd in the Sunshine State
Conference preseason poll.' The Tars collected 39 points and six
first place votes, falling behind University of Tampa with a total
of 34 points and 10 first place nominations, and ahead of Florida
Tech with 56 points and only one first place vote.
SERIES VS. WARNER SOUTHERN
Rollins vs. Warner Southern' 2-0
It is unknown when Rollins last played Warner Southern.
LAST TIME OUT
The conclusion of the 2006-07 season found the Tars with their 11th
Sunshine State Conference regular season title, and their 10th NCAA
Tournament appearance.' After falling to Arkansas Tech in the first
round of the NCAA Tournament, the Tars finished the year with an
overall record of 24-7 and an SSC total of 13-3, marking the Tars'
10th straight season with at least 20 wins.
LOOKING AHEAD
Rollins will play their 1st SSC game at home against University of
Tampa on December 1, 2007.' The last time the Tars were up against
Tampa was in last year's SSC Championship game, where they fell to
the Spartans 68-66 in overtime.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Coming back for the Tars will be 2006-2007 starters Jennifer
Musgrove, Jessica Barker, and Ines Teuma.' With plenty of depth
coming from the remainder of the team, the Tars will be able to
hold their own with the rest of the SSC women's basketball elite,
even with the loss of last year's lone senior Larissa
McDonough.
ROYALS RECONNASAINCE
With new head coach Rick Brewer leading the Royals this
season, anything can happen.' Names to watch for this season will
be Ivana Soberal, Karyna Cid, Kendall Heath, and Crystal
Stephens.
TARS TIDBITS
Rollins tied with Concordia University (St. Paul, Minn.) in the USA
Today Division II poll, coming in with a total of 68 points, but
unable to find a home on the leader board.' Last year, the Tars
were picked 20th with 168 points, but only receiving 5 points in
the final poll of the season.
