WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 4, 2007) ' In a
decisive performance, the Tars volleyball team notched a win over
the Flagler College Saints 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-18) on Thursday
night at Warden Arena.
Rollins had an excellent offensive evening with senior Christina
Reinders leading all scorers with 17 kills, two aces and nine digs.
Junior Stephanie Nichols added 11 kills and nine digs with Lorena
Orlandini totaling seven kills for the Tars. Freshman Jenny
Sherwood continued her stellar debut season with six kills on the
night. Libero Kim Cline was superb on defense with 19 digs and
Lacey Malarky commanded the offensive effort with 39 assists.
It was all Rollins' seniors in the first game with Reinders and
Orlandini each tallying five kills in the opening game, but the
Saints kept it close, even tying the Tars at one point (16-16). The
Tars widened the scoring margin with offensive prowess and took
Game One, 30-22.
The Tars were up by as many as 10 points in the second game
(17-7), but they let the Saints back within three (29-26). Senior
Christie Eastman pounded a kill to seal the Game Two victory,
30-26. Rollins powered through the third game, winning by 12 points
(30-18).
Caitie Culleton led the Saints with nine kills and three
assists, while Krista McAra had seven kills.
The Tars (12-9, 2-4) will be back in action when they travel to
Melbourne to take on the Florida Tech Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Log
