WINTER
PARK/>, Fla./>/> (September 3, 2006) ' Junior
Jeri Ostuw scored a goal in the ninth minute and the Rollins
defense kept Montevallo in check the entire match as the Tars
stayed undefeated with 1-0 victory over the Lady Falcons on
Sunday.
Rollins moves to
4-0 on the year while Montevallo falls to 0-3. The win also gives
Rollins a weekend sweep and two big regional victories with
Friday's defeat of Alabama-Huntsville and Sunday's win over UM.
Freshman keeper
Stephanie Woelfel played all 90 minutes and earned the shutout win,
grabbling two saves. Montevallo's Corey Gros racked up 10 saves
while allowing one goal.
The match's lone
score came at the 8:41 mark as sophomore Lindsay Giblin served a
free kick into the box and found the foot of Ostuw who slid a shot
into the right side of the net. Rollins would continue to attack
the goal, rolling up 12 shots in the first period to just one from
Montevallo. Defenders Alison Tradd, Lindsay Taylor, Danielle Martin
and Ericka Mohr rarely gave the Falcons a decent look at the
goal.
In the final
minute of play, the Lady Falcons had a chance to tie things up,
getting off a shot on goal, but Woelfel made the save to preserve
the victory. The Tars ended the contest with an 18-6 advantage in
shots and 6-1 in corner kicks.
