LANTANA, Fla. (September 23, 2006) ' Rollins
standout forward Lindsay Giblin tallied her fourth multi-goal match
of the season, scoring three times to lead the Tars over Palm Beach
Atlantic 3-2 on Saturday.
Rollins (7-2) scored first on a Giblin goal in the 12th minute,
as she beat two defenders on the left side and streaked down the
end line to the net, flicking the ball over the keeper's head. The
Sailfish (6-3) came right back at the Tars, scoring goals in the
16th and 23rd minutes to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
After more than 20 minutes of back and forth play, the Tars
began to attack as Rollins forward Jen Dyer beat a defender one on
one and fired a shot into the net, but the PBA keeper made a diving
save. The ball then got away from the keeper and Giblin came flying
in to score the rebound and tie the game at 2-2. The sophomore
struck again in the 70th minute in a carbon copy of her first goal,
beating the Sailfish defense and slipping the ball into the right
side of the net to put the Tars ahead for good.
Stephanie Woelfel played all 90 minutes between the posts for
the Tars, recording one save in the winning effort. The Tars won on
the shot chart 9-5, due in large part to the play of defenders
Allison Tradd, Lindsay Taylor, Danielle Martin and Erica Mohr.
Rollins will get back into Sunshine State Conference play on
Tuesday, September 26 when they will host Saint Leo at 7 p.m. in
Winter Park. Fans can listen live on RollinsSports.com.
