ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (September 23, 2006) - Trailing 2-0, the Rollins College Tars volleyball team rallied to sweep the last three games in a 3-2 (28-30, 27-30, 30-26, 30-16, 15-9) win over Flagler College in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gym.

Stephanie Nichols led Rollins (11-3) with 18 kills and added a match-high 20 digs to complete her double-double. Lorena Orlandini added 13 kills and five total blocks while Christina Reinders tacked on 12 kills and five service aces. Brittainy Daiger collected six total blocks for the Tars and Lacey Malarky tallied 56 assists.

In the first game, Rollins took control from the first serve and held a 24-15 lead until Flagler reeled off nine straight points to take a 25-24 lead. The Saints would take control of game one after a Justine Burkhardt kill. A Katie Beale service ace pushed the lead to 29-27, but Rollins was able to break game point on a Flagler ball handling error. On the next serve, Burkhardt won the game for the Saints 30-28.

In the second game, Flagler broke open a close game to take an 18-9 lead. Rollins would rally back and score the next 10 of 11 points to knot the game at 19. Orlandini supplied a couple of kills in that run for the Tars. The Saints recorded the next three points and held off the Tars for a 30-27 win.

Game three was a lot like game one, but in favor of the Tars. Flagler jumped out to a 19-13 lead, but Rollins scored eight consecutive points to take a 21-19 lead and never trailed again in a 30-26 win. The Tars were aided in the run by three aces by Reinders and a pair of ball handling errors by the Saints.

In the fourth game, Rollins trailed early, but scored eight unanswered points to take control (15-5) and cruise to a 30-16 win.

In the fifth game, Rollins scored the last five of six points in the 15-9 win. Reinders served up an ace and on match point, Daiger and Orlandini blocked Beale's attack attempt.

Rollins will travel to Ft. Myers on Tuesday, September 26 to play Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m.
