WINTER PARK, Fla. (November 21, 2006) ' The
Rollins Tars overpowered the Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Tarzans on
Tuesday evening at Warden Arena by a score of 83-56.
Forward Isaac Codrey and guard Kevin Hogan led the Tars with 15
points each. Codrey scored a double-double and was 6-12 from the
field and 3-4 from the free throw line, as he tallied 11 rebounds,
four assists and three steals. Hogan was clutch this evening
shooting 6-8 from the field and 3-4 from three point range. Junior
point guard Jonny Reibel also notched a double-double with 14
points and 11 assists, while also shooting 7-9 from the free throw
line.
At 11:55 in the first half, the Tars jumped out to a six-point
lead 21-15. The Tarzans began to close the gap and with :15 left on
the clock before the half, Reibel made one of two free throws to
give Rollins a two point lead at the half 40-38.
Rollins came back with a vengeance in the second half and at the
12:17 mark the Tars built a dominating 11 point lead over the
Tarzans 56-45. The Tars maintained their composure as they only
allowed Puerto Rico-Mayaguez to score 18 points in the second
half.
As a team, the Tars (2-1) shot 47 percent from the field, 38
percent from three point range and 70 percent from the charity
stripe. Puerto Rico-Mayaguez was 36 percent from the field, 33
percent from the arc and 67 percent from the free throw line.
Leading the way for the Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Tarzans (0-3) was
forward Williset Del Valle who notched an impressive 25 points,
shooting 5-13 from the field, 4-7 from three point range and 11-13
from the line.
Rollins will take on the Warner Southern Royals (3-1) on
Wednesday, November 22 at 5:00 p.m. at Warden Arena.
