LAKELAND, Fla. (January 11, 2006) ' The
Rollins College women's basketball team won their 12th straight
game of the 2005-06 season on Wednesday evening with a 67-49
victory over Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern (5-9,
1-2 SSC). Sophomore guard Jennifer Musgrove
led the Tars with a career high 19
points while sophomore forward Rachael Workman
had a team high seven
rebounds.

The
Tars wasted no time in establishing an early lead, going up by 12
points with 12:40 to play in the first half. The Moccasins fought
back and cut the Tars lead to five with 3:29 to play in the half.
Rollins then took advantage of the Moccasins foul trouble and
connected on eight of ten free throws to grab a 41-27 advantage
going into the break.

The
second half saw the Tars extend their lead, led by Musgrove's (Palm
Bay, Fla.) 11 points in the second half, including three baskets
from behind the three-point line. Rollins went up by as many as 26
points during the half, the last time being with 6:54 left in the
game. Florida Southern did not back down and finished the game on a
12-4 run to cut the Tars' final advantage to 18 points.

Giles (Winter Haven, Fla.) had
another consistent night for the Tars with 13 points and six
rebounds, while junior forward Larissa McDonough
(Ormond Beach, Fla.) added 12 points
and five rebounds. McDonough had a season high four assists and
connected on three of five from the three point line.

Junior
forward Sarah Pavelecky led the Moccasins with 15 points and seven
rebounds and freshman forward Nakita Prince chipped in a solid 12
points.

Despite
the 18 point victory, Rollins was only able to out-rebound the
Moccasins by one, 43-42, and both teams committed 22 turnovers.
Rollins finished the night 16-22 from the charity stripe, while
holding the Moccasins to only eight attempts.

The
Tars will aim for their 13th straight victory to open the season on
Saturday, January 14, when the host Lynn University at 2:00 p.m. in
Winter Park . The Fighting Knights are currently 8-5 on the season
and are tied with the Tars atop the SSC standings with a perfect
3-0 conference record, compared to the Tars 4-0 conference record.
A Tars victory would assure the team a tie for the best start in
school history, as in both the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons, the
Tars opened the seasons 13-0 prior to losing their first games.
