Head Coach since: 2020-21
Julianne (Kurke) Lehner joined the Rollins swim program in August of 2018 as an assistant coach and was elevated to Interim Head Coach for the 2019-20 season, and became the full-time head coach prior to the 2020-21 school year.
As Interim Head Coach in 2019-20, Lehner led the Tars set 13 new school records, and was named the 2020 SAAC Coach of the Year. The women's team posted three dual meet wins and took first place at the Florida Tech Invitational. They finished third at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, while two swimmers advanced to the NCAA Championships. The Rollins men won four dual meets, the most in the past 10 seasons. Five men earned NCAA B-cuts and were on the cusp of NCAA National Championship qualifications.Â
The 2021-22 season saw the Tars enjoy great success, highlighted by three individuals and three relay teams qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Beatriz Olivieri represented the women in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly as well as the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, earning First Team All-American recognition in the 200-yard freestyle and Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200-yard butterfly. Her 16.5 points meant Rollins finished 27th at the event. For the men, Harold Lockhart took home a pair of national championships, winning the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle races, becoming the first-ever national champion in Rollins swimming history. Chance Ricca also earned Honorable Mention All-America status in the 500-yard freestyle, helping Rollins to a 17th-place finish with 69 points, the highest finish in program history. Lockhart was named the SSC Swimmer of the Year and First Team All-SSC, both firsts for a Tar, helping the men to a program-best fourth-place finish at the SSC Championships. Oliveiri was a Second Team All-SSC selection after helping Rollins place fifth at the conference meet. Following the 2021-22 season, Lehner received the Tommy Award as the Rollins SAAC Coach of the year.
In 2022-23, Lehner guided the men to a fourth-place finish at the SSC Championships, while the women took fifth. Luke Dinges was a Second Team All-American in the 200-yard butterfly and Jill Hughes earned Second Team All-American honors in the 1650-yard freestyle, as the men finished 31st and the women placed 34th at the NCAA II Championships.
Lehner swam at Northwestern University, where she was twice elected as a team captain, and was named Academic All-Big 10 on two occasions. An excellent breaststroker, she qualified for the USA Olympic Trials in 2012 and 2016.Â
After her graduation from Northwestern in 2016 Lehner returned to her home state of Georgia where she became the Head Coach of the Rivermist Swim Team and an instructor with Swim Atlanta.Â
Lehner is a graduate of the 2019 NCAA Women Coaches Academy class #48 that was held in Denver, CO. The NCAA Women Coaches Academy, hosted in partnership between WeCOACH and the NCAA, is a 4-day educational training available to NCAA coaches of all experience levels, and is designed for women coaches who are ready to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success.Â
