VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Tars capped off non-conference play in style on Saturday, sweeping host Valdosta State (25-21, 25-10, 25-23) to close out the Fall Tournament.

Remington Doggett led the Rollins attack with 11 kills, followed by Robinson Repass with nine and Cameron Grange with seven. Jenna Garza directed the offense with a team-high 18 assists, while she and Rylee Yarborough each added an ace from the service line.

Defensively, Grange anchored the back row with 17 digs, while Repass proved dominant at the net with eight total blocks.

The opening point went to the Blazers, but Repass quickly answered with a kill for the Tars. Valdosta State responded with a pair of points before Repass struck again, with a Blazer miscue evening the score at three. VSU added another pair, but Doggett found the floor to keep Rollins within striking distance. Goodloe delivered the next Tars kill before Rollins pieced together its first run behind another Repass finish and a pair of Valdosta State errors.

The Tars continued to build momentum from there. Goodloe and Repass teamed up for a block before kills from Doggett, Yarborough and Repass helped stretch the advantage to 13-9. The Blazers answered with three straight to pull within one, but Grange restored some breathing room with a kill.

VSU continued to battle, but another Rollins run, highlighted by a Grange kill and a block from Grange and Vivian Scuteri, restored the three-point cushion. A pair of Blazer miscues and a Yarborough finish stretched the advantage to five before Goodloe and Yarborough took over down the stretch, each delivering a pair of kills to close out the opening set, 25-21.

Rollins dominated from the start in set two. Repass once again opened the scoring, putting away a kill before teaming up with Doggett for consecutive blocks at the net. Repass followed with two more kills, forcing an early timeout from the Blazers.

The break did little to slow the Tars. Yarborough and Doggett added finishes before Doggett and Repass combined for another rejection. Two more Valdosta State errors stretched the Rollins advantage to 10-2.

Doggett added another kill before the Blazers briefly found some rhythm, but Scuteri quickly halted the push with a finish of her own. Grange followed with another kill to send the Tars into the media timeout holding a commanding 15-7 advantage.

A pair of VSU miscues added to the lead before Goodloe delivered a solo block. Repass and Doggett continued to add to their kill totals as Rollins pulled further away, and Garza provided the finishing touch from the service line, delivering an ace to seal the dominant 25-10 set.

The Tars carried that momentum into the third, with kills from Doggett and Grange paired with a Repass and Yarborough block to build an early 5-1 advantage. Grange and Doggett continued to find the floor as Rollins maintained control.

The Blazers eventually worked their way back within one, but Scuteri and Goodloe answered with a block to keep the momentum with the Tars. Grange and Repass followed with another rejection before Goodloe capped the three-point stretch with a kill.

The block party continued moments later as Grange and Repass teamed up at the net. Repass added a kill shortly after before Yarborough found the floor to stretch the Rollins advantage to 15-9.

Valdosta State refused to go quietly, however, putting together a run to erase the deficit and eventually reclaim the lead despite kills from Doggett and Scuteri.

A pair of Blazer errors swung the advantage back toward Rollins before Scuteri and Addilyn Kegerreis combined for a block. Grange kept the Tars ahead by two with a kill, but VSU answered once again, rallying to take a 22-21 advantage.

Grange delivered the equalizer with a kill, only for the Blazers to immediately respond and move back in front. Yarborough answered from the back row to even the score at 23 before a VSU error handed Rollins match point.

Doggett made sure the Tars needed only one chance, putting away the final ball to secure the 25-23 set, complete the sweep and send Rollins into conference play with its third consecutive victory.

Rollins improves to 7-4 on the season and returns to action on Friday, September 18, to open conference play at Palm Beach Atlantic. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in West Palm Beach.
