Tars Exact Revenge in Blowout Win

Rollins defeated Palm Beach Atlantic 20-4 on Friday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (May 8, 2026) - After a series-opening loss that saw them struggle to score runs, Rollins made up for it in a big way, cruising to a 20-4 win over Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tars now stand at 33-14, 21-8 SSC while the Sailfish drop to 11-37, 5-24 SSC.

Rollins loaded the bases on three walks in the first inning, but failed to score. After Brett Dennis breezed through the Sailfish in the first, the Tars got the scoreboard working in their next at bat.

Jimmy Thies led off with a double, followed by walks from Stephen Deans and Mauri Bejarano to load the bases. Joey Rubin sent a flyball to center for a sac fly, followed by an RBI single from Collin Hughes. After a pitching change, Michael Furry added a sac fly as well to put Rollins up 3-0.

Dennis tossed perfect frames in the second and third innings, and then received all the run support he could ever ask for. The Tars scored 13 runs in the top of the fourth inning, using six hits, five walks, a hit batter, and an error to keep the gears turning. Every player in the starting lineup scored during the inning that saw 16 plate appearances from Rollins. Mason Elrod had the highlight with a two-out grand slam that blew the game open, 16-0.

Jack Haynes took over on the mound in the bottom of the fourth and pitched masterfully. He was three up, three down in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Tars added a run in the sixth on a RBI single from Owen Rardin, with Haynes blanking the Sailfish in the bottom half.

The Tars added their 18th run in the eighth thanks to a Jonah DiCocco single, and then were good for two more in the ninth courtesy of an AJ Barrios ingle and another base hit from Rardin to make 20.

Haynes blanked the Fish again in the seventh and eighth, before ceding the mound to Mark Loubier in the ninth. Loubier forced two groundouts to open the inning, but a pair of errors from the Rollins defense wound up leading to four unearned runs for Palm Beach Atlantic before the game ended at 20-4.

The offense was on fire in this one, collecting 17 hits, drawing 14 walks, and having three batters hit by a pitch. Ten different players recorded a hit, ten different players scored a run, and ten different players had at least one RBI.

On the mound, Dennis allowed just one hit in his predetermined three innings while striking out three and earning his seventh win of the year. Haynes turned in a near flawless relief appearance with five scoreless innings, two hits, zero walks, and four strikeouts.

The two teams will wrap up the regular season tomorrow with a noon first pitch from Rubin Park.
